Toyota is preparing the new Celica , which will be released under the name Celica Sport and will be four-wheel drive. Mechanically, it will be equipped with the new 2,000 cc turbo G20E engine , with an output of up to 400 horsepower, with the engine being either a hybrid or plug-in hybrid.



Gazoo Racing Marketing Director Mikio Hayashi said:

The 1.6-liter engine [used in the GR Yaris], for example, cannot meet emissions regulations. So we have to look at the possibility of a 2.0-liter.

We are thinking about different sizes, but we are not at a stage where we can tell you exactly what size it is. Nothing has been decided yet on whether it will be a standard hybrid or a plug-in hybrid system.

We continue to develop the new 2.0-liter engine. We have high expectations. We can't give a timeline, but we can say that we are making steady progress.

Lepa vest, dobra stvar je što razvijaju i G20E motor. Veoma lako će izvući i potencijalnih 600hp kako je u najavi, pritom će biti manji i lakši od 2.4L motora.

Još jedna stvar koja me raduje je to što SUS motori opstaju kroz hibridna rešenja. Mislim da Toyota neće tek tako odustati od benzinskih sportskih motora, već će ih unapređiti da budu kompatibilni sa budućim ekološkim standardima.
