Toyota confirms that it will carry a twin-turbo V8.
Takashi Uehara, Toyota's president of Powertrains, officially confirmed rumors about a twin-turbo V8 engine for the first time. He explained that this new eight-cylinder engine is based on the same family of modular engines as the upcoming 1.5 and 2.0-liters.
In the GR Yaris M Concept, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder "G20E" engine delivers more than 400 hp. Uehara told Australian magazine CarExpert that the new V8 is "related" to this engine, only with twice as many cylinders, two turbochargers and significantly more power.
