Spyker aiming for a comeback, wants to build Peking-to-Paris concept

We haven't heard much out of Victor Muller since the collapse of Saab, but the executive hasn't give up his automotive ambitions.

Speaking with the De Telegraaf, Muller revealed that he wants to revive Spyker and put the six-year old Peking-to-Paris concept into production. In order to do this, Muller estimates he needs to raise €25 ($32.9) million so he is "constantly in talks with potential investors."

Given the fact that Spyker only made 12 cars last year, his goal of building a thousand units annually is rather ambitious. However, Muller remains undeterred and says the company has a lot of orders for the C8 Aileron.

Lamborghini Estoque Concept: I'm Not Dead Yet!

With the Lamborghini Urus making its debut at this week's Beijing Motor Show, a question has popped upped about another one of Lamborghini's concepts; what ever happened to the Estoque concept?

The Estoque sedan concept was shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show as a way to preview a new model line for the brand. Since then, nothing much has happened.

Autoweek had the chance to sit down with CEO Stefan Winkelmann and asked him about the Estoque.

"It [the Estoque] was placed on hold because of a number of reasons, including the lack of a suitable platform. We haven't given up on the idea of a sedan entirely, but we see more potential in a sport-utility vehicle encapsulating typical Lamborghini attributes."

German scientists unveil 'intelligent' tyre for all weather

Are you fed up of having to change your summer tyres for winter tyres at the first sign of snow? Or of being caught out on a long car journey by sudden changes in the weather?

That may soon be a thing of the past, according to a group of researchers at Leipzig university, who are developing the world's first-ever "intelligent" tyre which automatically adapts itself to the prevailing weather conditions even while you are driving.

A team of researchers headed by Detlef Riemer at the University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig unveiled the "adaptive tyre" at this year's Hanover Fair, the world's biggest industrial fair taking place in the north German city this week.

"Today's choice of tyres are always a compromise between the ability to brake and petrol consumption," Riemer said.

"The car driver has to take into consideration every sort of weather condition and you can't change tyres while you're driving."

But Riemer's "adaptive tyre" is equipped with electronic sensors which recognise different sorts of terrain -- whether motorway or un-tarmacked roads -- and whether it's dry, raining or snowing.

And accordingly, the tyres' profiles are automatically raised or widened accordingly, even when the car is in motion.

"That means your car is always equipped with the best possible tyre and noise and petrol consumption are automatically optimised, too," Riemer enthused.

"The driver no longer has to think about adapting their tyres. The tyre itself 'thinks' too."

The tyre is still a long way from a finished product and research is still ongoing, notably on the materials that can be used for the moveable parts of the tyre's profiles.

"But we've patented it already, just in case," Riemer said.

Ja vec vidim domace vulkanizere kako standardne All-season gume prodaju sa pricom da su iste kao ove. :uf:

Mislim da je to budalastina.

Iz licnog iskustva, na univerzitetima se uglavnom bave budalastinama koje nemaju blage veze sa zivotom, i osim za filozofiranje potpuno su beskorisne. E onda ako se radi ovako neko istrazivanje koje moze da se ucini zanimljivo siroj populaciji onda osvanu ovako neverovatni novinski clanci.

Da krenemo samo od toga da smesa od koje se guma pravi ne moze da se menja u zavisnosti od uslova, tako da smo vec zavrsili sa ovom idejom, ma koliko oni menjali profile i sl...

Znaci,ako mi je sada jedna bolja Run-Flat guma 300e, onda za ovu pametnu da ocekujemo 500e po komadu?
A nece opet sigurno biti bolja od najbolje gume pravljene za odredjene uslove...

Opel je danas u fabrici u Riselshajmu proizveo jubilarni, i to 500.000-ti primerak modela Insignia.

500.000-ti primerak je bela Insignia Sports Tourer sa 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI motorom sa 143 kW/195KS i 400 Nm obrtnog momenta.

Insignia se na tržištu nalazi od oktobra 2008. godine (proglašena je i za Evropski auto godine 2009), a samo tokom prošle godine je u Evropi prodato 150.000 komada ovog modela.

40% od ukupno proizvdenih Insignia u Riselshajmu je karavanski Sports Tourer, verzija sa 5 vrata takođe zauzima 40% proizvodnje, a sedan preostalih 20%.
